This is Barcelona:

Or rather, this is "my" Barcelona. This is the Barcelona that I want to spend the rest of my life in. This isn't Gaudí's Barcelona, this isn't the Barcelona that comes to mind when the city name pops up in everday conversation. This is the "real" Barcelona. The Barcelona for Barcelonians (??), the Barcelona for Catalans, and possibly even the Barcelona for Spaniards.
It's a background, it's a setting. It's not the main character, it's not the focus of attention. It's a real city with real people and a real culture. It's unique and beautiful and charming and the most incredible city I've ever had the chance to experience.
It's "my" Barcelona. It's all there, the Sagrada Família, the Passeig de Gràcia, the Parc Güell, all of it. It's there. But that's not what defines Barcelona, at least not to me. The Barcelona I fell in love with last year isn't the tourists' Barcelona, it's the natives' Barcelona. It's the Barcelona that real people live and work in, where they conduct their daily lives. Not that there's anything wrong with the tourists' Barcelona, but it's not for me.
I love Barcelona for what it is. A city with its own culture, its own language, its own way of life. I love it for its culture and its language (I am convinced that Catalan is the most beautiful language on the planet), and if I ever get the chance to live there one day I will relish every minute. Not because "It's Barcelona!" but because it is home. I'd rather look at a city through the eyes of a native than the eyes of a foreigner of a tourist. That's how I fell in love with Barcelona.
This is my dedication to the city that stole my heart in May of 2008. Because it's more than Gaudí, it's more than a tourist destination. The local soccer club has as its motto "més que un club", "more than a club" in Catalan. Barcelona, to me, is "més que una ciutat", "more than a city".

I just did a SRS BZNS friends cut.
I took you off because we never talked, seem to have very little in common, or you hate my guts and just wanted me on your friends list for the lulz.
Please remove me from your friends list, and there are no hard feelings towards most of you. I don't particularly like doing friends cuts because I really like getting to know people, but sometimes people just don't click.
And sometimes people are just out to make your life miserable. And if I did manage to cut you, Anonymous, I told you I would. ;) If I didn't, I will soon.

I decided I needed to post another bio post, only this time entirely football-centric. There are probably things even people on my friends list don't know about me football-wise, so here goes. (This is will be linked in my profile for everyone who stumbles upon it.)
First off, I would like to welcome you all to my LJ. I don't bite, and if I do, it's not too hard. ;) I like to think I'm easy to get along with, and hope you feel the same way.

One thing I would like to say in closing is that I really AM fluent in Spanish, Castillian Spanish for that matter (the accent and dialect spoken by most of the Spanish National Team, and understood perfectly by the rest), and it's not just a front I put on to make myself seem cool. When I post translations of things I translate them myself. I only use an external language source such as a dictionary when I ABSOLUTELY need to, and when I do, it's a Spanish dictionary, the way most of us would use an English one. I'm not just pretending to speak Spanish, I really do. I'm not the world's leading expert on Spanish, but then again, how many native English speakers are leading experts on English? :)
I am also currently teaching myself Catalan, the language of Xavi, Cesc and Puyol, and getting quite good at it. Anytime I post a translation from Catalan that's all me too, and even if I do use an external source for help, the wordage and word choice is always me. I'm working on my Basque, which I studied for two years in public school in the Basque Country, but it's a much harder language to learn. However, I'm more familiar with the language than most people here, so while I may not be fluent, I DO know what I'm talking about if I do ever mention the language of Xabi Alonso. :)
I hope this has explained everything about where my football allegiances lie (and don't lie) and where I come from in terms of football. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them. And if you have some complaint or other grievance against me, be an intelligent, rational human being and tell me directly. Thank you.
One other thing. If you still feel you'd like to be my LJ friend, feel free to add me. I'd just appreciate it if you'd let me know, simply because this LJ is friends-only and while I add everyone who asks (I haven't said no to anyone yet!), it's nice to keep things private. For all of you who haven't received updates from me in a very long time:
It may be because of a friends cut.
Please remember that I cut EVERYONE and added those back who commented. No hard feelings at all if you were cut, because I even cut my best LJ friends. But there is hope, if you want to read my journal again, just comment on the link above and I'll add you back. Don't ask why I cut you or tell me that I don't have to add you back. I'll update about my super-insane Friday in just a sec.
But first, the all-dreaded FRIENDS CUT. I'm sorry, guys, I hate to do it. But I have no other choice because 119 friends is just pure insanity. But instead of me doing the cutting, I'll let you do it.
"How does that work?" you may ask. Well. I'm going to cut EVERYONE that doesn't have a graphics/resource journal and make a list. If you can comment within twenty-four hours (possibly less...or more...) then I'll add you back. If you cannot comment within twenty-four hours (or until the next time I check my LJ) you have to give me a reason why I should let you back in. I will probably add most people back who reply after the allotted time. But you MUST give a reason or I can't keep you. Because if it was totally for me, I'd keep you all. :) That's how awesome you all are.
Please note: If you haven't commented in awhile and/or you never update and/or don't have much to say when you DO update (thus leaving me no ability to respond to your posts), I'll leave you cut. I know it sounds really mean, but there is just no possible way I can read 119 journals. Those of you who have fairly long friends lists as well understand this.
I really do love you all and I still think I have one of the best friends lists in all LJland, but I just can't possibly keep you all. At least this way, I'm not the one directly cutting you. I don't have to go through my list and say "Cutting you, cutting you..." That way I'll never get anything done. =P So you decide. If you want to stay and keep reading my entries, comment. If you decide it's not worth it (I PROMISE, no hard feelings. :) ), don't comment. Easy as that.
